Our Mission
The Village Foundation uses athletics, mentorship, culture, and community engagement as tools to inspire, elevate, and empower youth and families—developing leaders, strengthening families, and creating opportunities that extend beyond the game
The Village Foundation was built on a simple belief: sometimes all a young person needs is someone—or a village—to believe in them.
Rooted in Hawaiʻi and inspired by a lifelong commitment to community, The Village Foundation exists to create meaningful impact through athletics, mentorship, culture, and community engagement.
Our story did not begin with nonprofit paperwork—it began years ago through coaching, mentorship, youth programs, community outreach, and showing up wherever support was needed. Founded by former University of Hawaii football captain and longtime coach Rocky Savaiigaea, The Village Foundation is the continuation of a life already lived in service.
As a local boy raised in the islands, Rocky experienced firsthand how athletics could become more than competition. Sports provided opportunity, mentorship, lifelong relationships, and exposure to possibilities beyond the field. Those experiences shaped a lifelong commitment to giving back and helping create similar opportunities for the next generation.
Today, The Village Foundation uses those lessons and relationships to inspire, elevate, and empower youth and families—developing leaders, strengthening families, and creating opportunities that extend beyond the game.
Whether through clinics, mentorship, outreach, education, or community partnerships, we believe strong communities are built when people come together to invest in one another.
Sports gave us the platform.
Community gives us purpose.
